Part 5 of 8 · ← Your first test – step by step
On a first test it's almost always the same questions. Here they are, each with its answer – read them once and the first test runs smoothly.
In the admin panel under the “Table” tab – at the top of the appointments view, next to “Day”, “Week” and “Kanban”. Every blood draw sits there as a row.
The report is in that row, but only once you expand it: click the arrow on the left of the row, the appointment unfolds and the report sits inside as a PDF. Collapsed, you only see the row. And the calendar view shows only the appointments themselves – which is why looking there comes up empty.
The report is usually ready 48–72 hours after the pickup. Before that the appointment is already in the table, just without values – that's not an error. There is currently no notification – so check the table yourself two or three days after the pickup. If nothing has arrived after 72 hours, write to us via the chat in the admin panel and we'll check where the sample is.
If you entered an email address when creating the patient, the customer also receives the report by mail. Without one, everything runs through you – the customer comes back into the pharmacy for the report, and you advise them with the numbers on the table.
Almost always it comes down to one of two things: not enough to drink, or an arm that is too cold.
Drinking. Whoever hasn't drunk enough beforehand gives hardly any blood – a glass of water before the draw is part of the procedure, including when you test yourself.
Warming – two minutes are enough. Rub the upper arm warm, tap it, or put a heat pack on it. With a well-warmed arm the tube fills briskly; with a cold one it takes longer – that's not a defect.
And: expect three to four minutes, five at most. The video is edited and looks quicker than a real draw – four minutes is no reason to stop. If the flow stops midway, a second firm press on the red button can clear a blockage. Once the Tasso is off the arm, it is used up.
Invert. Right after the draw, turn the tube ten times top to bottom and back, slowly, as shown in the video – and do not shake. Serum and blood not visibly mixing is normal and no reason to be more forceful. This applies to both tubes.
The layer at the bottom of the tube must not mix with the blood. It looks like a liquid but it is a solid separation layer – it belongs there and later separates serum from blood cells in the lab. So invert rather than shake, and don't open the tube.
Send it in. Dark, uneven, small clots, less blood than expected – it looks worse than it is. The lab centrifuges the sample anyway, and a result can usually still be obtained from what is there. Throwing it away definitely produces none. If the lab genuinely cannot measure a value, that value isn't invoiced either.
The yellow serum tube for all values except blood sugar. You only need the purple EDTA tube for long-term blood sugar (HbA1c) – everything else runs on serum.
One. For every panel, one tube filled to the topmost mark is enough – no matter what number the admin panel shows. The fill level is what matters, not the number of tubes.
No. No name, no address, no pharmacy name – the match runs exclusively via the barcode. You seal the white shipping pouch by pulling off the red strip and sticking it down. The courier brings the return label.
Exactly like you would for a customer: create an appointment in the admin panel and enter yourself as a new patient – with name and date of birth, and with your email address only if you also want the report by mail.
Important: the admin account is not a patient. It's the login you work with in the admin panel – don't select it as the patient on an appointment, create a new person instead. That also holds when you run the test on yourself.
Then someone probably clicked “App” in the top right of the admin panel – the button next to “Sign out”. It leads to the customer app, and signing up there starts the end-customer onboarding. Everything the pharmacy does – create appointments, enter barcodes, view reports – happens in the admin panel.
If something got created that shouldn't have: drop us a line via the chat in the admin panel and we'll clean it up. It doesn't cost you anything.
By the next working day at the latest. You enter the barcode in the admin panel and confirm the blood draw – every evening we check which samples are ready and arrange the pickup. You don't need to announce anything or wait for a courier. Room temperature is perfectly sufficient; the sample does not need to be refrigerated and keeps overnight without a problem.
